The Opportunity
This is a strong opportunity for an experienced Construction Accountant who wants to work in a true ERP-based accounting role within an integrated construction environment. You will contribute across accounts payable, accounts receivable, job cost, equipment costing, general ledger support, and month-end close while helping maintain the financial integrity of multiple active projects. Key Responsibilities
ERP & Accounting Operations
- Perform daily accounting functions within Trimble Viewpoint Spectrum (AP, AR, Job Cost, Equipment, and General Ledger modules)
- Ensure accurate job, phase, and cost-type coding
- Maintain vendor and customer master data
- Support month-end close activities
- Assist with ERP data validation and financial reporting
Accounts Payable (AP)
- Manage full-cycle accounts payable processing within Spectrum
- Perform three-way matching (purchase order, receipt, invoice)
- Process subcontractor invoices and track holdbacks
- Complete vendor reconciliations
Accounts Receivable (AR)
- Prepare progress billings and time & material invoices
- Track change orders and contract values
- Apply payments and reconcile customer accounts
- Monitor aging reports and assist with collections
Job Cost Support
- Review job cost postings for accuracy
- Assist with work-in-progress (WIP) and cost reporting
- Maintain cost code structure integrity
- Support equipment cost allocations
Month-End & Reporting
- Assist with general ledger reconciliations
- Maintain subledger accuracy and integrity
- Support audit preparation and documentation
What Success Looks Like
Within the first 6 to 12 months, success in this role will look like:
- Job cost postings, cost code structures, and subledgers are consistently accurate and dependable for project and financial reporting.
- Accounts payable and receivable processes run smoothly inside the ERP system, with fewer coding issues, timely reconciliations, and stronger billing accuracy.
- Month-end close support becomes more efficient, with reconciliations, WIP inputs, and reporting completed accurately and on schedule.
- Project managers and operations leaders have greater confidence in the accuracy of cost data used to monitor project performance.
- You become a trusted accounting partner who helps strengthen financial discipline in a multi-project construction environment.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of accounting experience within the construction industry
- Direct experience using ERP
- Trimble Viewpoint experience would be considered an asset
- Strong understanding of job cost accounting principles
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Heavy civil or trade contractor experience
- Experience with progress billing and statutory holdbacks
- Experience supporting multi-project construction environments

Location: Calgary, AB
Work setting: In-office
Schedule: Standard work hours (8 am until 4 pm with flexibility)
