Job Title Construction Accountant Company Overview BAAC Construction is a growing heavy civil contractor with an integrated approach to operations and accounting. Our finance team plays a direct role in supporting project performance by maintaining accurate job costs, strong reporting, and disciplined financial controls. This role is well suited to someone who understands that in construction, accurate accounting is essential to sound execution. Compensation and Benefits Salary: $75,000-$85,000 per year Benefits: Comprehensive health benefits The Opportunity This is a strong opportunity for an experienced Construction Accountant who wants to work in a true ERP-based accounting role within an integrated construction environment. You will contribute across accounts payable, accounts receivable, job cost, equipment costing, general ledger support, and month-end close while helping maintain the financial integrity of multiple active projects. Key Responsibilities ERP &amp; Accounting Operations<ul><li>Perform daily accounting functions within Trimble Viewpoint Spectrum (AP, AR, Job Cost, Equipment, and General Ledger modules)</li><li>Ensure accurate job, phase, and cost-type coding</li><li>Maintain vendor and customer master data</li><li>Support month-end close activities</li><li>Assist with ERP data validation and financial reporting</li></ul>Accounts Payable (AP)<ul><li>Manage full-cycle accounts payable processing within Spectrum</li><li>Perform three-way matching (purchase order, receipt, invoice)</li><li>Process subcontractor invoices and track holdbacks</li><li>Complete vendor reconciliations</li></ul>Accounts Receivable (AR)<ul><li>Prepare progress billings and time &amp; material invoices</li><li>Track change orders and contract values</li><li>Apply payments and reconcile customer accounts</li><li>Monitor aging reports and assist with collections</li></ul>Job Cost Support<ul><li>Review job cost postings for accuracy</li><li>Assist with work-in-progress (WIP) and cost reporting</li><li>Maintain cost code structure integrity</li><li>Support equipment cost allocations</li></ul>Month-End &amp; Reporting<ul><li>Assist with general ledger reconciliations</li><li>Maintain subledger accuracy and integrity</li><li>Support audit preparation and documentation</li></ul>What Success Looks Like Within the first 6 to 12 months, success in this role will look like:<ul><li>Job cost postings, cost code structures, and subledgers are consistently accurate and dependable for project and financial reporting.</li><li>Accounts payable and receivable processes run smoothly inside the ERP system, with fewer coding issues, timely reconciliations, and stronger billing accuracy.</li><li>Month-end close support becomes more efficient, with reconciliations, WIP inputs, and reporting completed accurately and on schedule.</li><li>Project managers and operations leaders have greater confidence in the accuracy of cost data used to monitor project performance.</li><li>You become a trusted accounting partner who helps strengthen financial discipline in a multi-project construction environment.</li></ul>What We're Looking For Required Qualifications<ul><li>2+ years of accounting experience within the construction industry</li><li>Direct experience using ERP</li><li>Trimble Viewpoint experience would be considered an asset</li><li>Strong understanding of job cost accounting principles</li><li>High level of accuracy and attention to detail</li><li>Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills</li></ul>Preferred Qualifications<ul><li>Heavy civil or trade contractor experience</li><li>Experience with progress billing and statutory holdbacks</li><li>Experience supporting multi-project construction environments</li></ul>Work Location / Schedule Location: Calgary, AB Work setting: In-office Schedule: Standard work hours (8 am until 4 pm with flexibility) Employment type: Full-time How to Apply If you are an experienced Construction Accountant with strong ERP experience and a passion for accurate job cost accounting, we encourage you to apply.

Do you have at least 2 prior years of experience in accounting within a construction company? (Due to job costing, payroll complexity, and project-based accounting). 

Do you have hands-on experience using an ERP system for accounting functions such as AP, AR, and job cost?

Have you managed full-cycle accounts payable in a construction environment, including three-way matching and subcontractor invoices?

Do you have experience preparing progress billings or time & material invoices and tracking change orders?

Have you supported month-end close activities, including reconciliations and work-in-progress (WIP) reporting?
