The Opportunity

We are hiring a Civil Estimator with 3-5 years of civil construction estimating experience to support and lead bid development for infrastructure projects across Calgary and Western Canada.

In this role, you will own key parts of the full estimating lifecycle--from quantity takeoffs and cost analysis to bid submission and project handoff. You will work closely with operations and leadership to develop competitive, accurate, and strategic bids.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to grow into a Senior Estimator role while gaining exposure to complex municipal and infrastructure projects.

Reporting to: Chief Estimator

What You'll Do

Civil Estimating & Cost Analysis

• Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for:
• Earthworks and excavation
• Underground utilities (water, sanitary, storm)
• Road construction and granular structures
• Asphalt paving
• Concrete flatwork (curbs, sidewalks, slabs)
• Analyze drawings, specifications, and tender documents to identify:
• Cost drivers
• Productivity assumptions
• Project risks and constructability factors
• Support development of construction methodologies, sequencing, and equipment strategies

Bid Preparation & Strategy

• Contribute to competitive bid submissions and estimate summaries
• Participate in bid review meetings, pricing alignment, and risk evaluation
• Support bid strategy development to improve win rates and project selection
• Prepare clear and organized tender documentation and scope breakdowns

Subcontractor & Supplier Management

• Solicit, review, and level subcontractor and supplier quotes
• Ensure scope coverage aligns with drawings and tender requirements
• Build relationships with subcontractors and vendors in the civil construction market

Estimating Tools & Systems

• Use industry-standard tools including:
• B2W Estimate (Bid2Win / HeavyBid)
• Bluebeam Revu
• Microsoft Excel
• Smartsheet
• Maintain clean, audit-ready estimate files and documentation
• Contribute to historical cost databases and productivity benchmarks

Collaboration with Operations

• Partner with project managers, superintendents, and field teams
• Validate assumptions related to:
• Productivity rates
• Equipment selection
• Construction sequencing
• Support estimate handoff and project kickoff alignment

What You Bring

Required Qualifications

• 3-5 years of civil construction estimating experience
• Proven experience estimating:
• Earthworks
• Underground utilities
• Road construction
• Asphalt paving
• Concrete works
• Strong understanding of civil drawings, specifications, and tender processes

Technical Skills

• Experience with:
• B2W Estimate (or similar estimating software)
• Bluebeam Revu (digital takeoffs)
• Microsoft Excel
• Knowledge of:
• Equipment productivity
• Installation methods
• Civil construction sequencing
