<p><strong>Location:</strong> Calgary, Alberta / Travel Throughout Western Canada May be Required<br></p><p><strong>Company:</strong> BAAC Construction Inc.</p><p><br></p><h2>Position Overview</h2><p>BAAC Construction Inc. is hiring an experienced HDD Locator to support fibre optic and underground utility installations across Alberta and Western Canada.</p><p><br></p><p>This role is responsible for accurately locating drill heads and existing underground infrastructure in residential, commercial, rural, and high-congestion environments. The HDD Locator works closely with drill operators and field crews to ensure safe, efficient, and production-focused drilling operations.</p><p><br></p><p>We are looking for someone with strong communication skills, a solid understanding of underground utility construction, and the ability to perform in fast-paced field environments.</p><h2><br></h2><h2>Location &amp; Travel</h2><ul><li>Shop based in Calgary</li><li>Work includes both local and out-of-town projects</li><li>Travel throughout Alberta and Western Canada may be required</li><li>LOA and accommodations provided for eligible projects</li><li>Overtime opportunities available depending on project schedules</li></ul><h1>What You'll Do</h1><h1><br></h1><h2>HDD Locating &amp; Underground Utility Support</h2><ul><li>Locate HDD drill heads during fibre optic and underground utility installations</li><li>Safely guide drill operators around existing underground infrastructure</li><li>Read and interpret:</li><li class="ql-indent-1">Locate sheets</li><li class="ql-indent-1">Drill plans</li><li class="ql-indent-1">Utility drawings</li><li class="ql-indent-1">Construction layouts</li><li>Maintain accurate drill alignment and bore path communication</li><li>Identify potential underground conflicts and hazards before and during drilling operations</li></ul><h2>Site Operations &amp; Field Execution</h2><ul><li>Support drill crews with safe and efficient project execution</li><li>Conduct pre-job inspections, FLHAs, and hazard assessments</li><li>Assist with job site setup, organization, and traffic/work area safety</li><li>Work in residential, urban, rural, and high-congestion environments</li><li>Coordinate closely with drillers, labourers, operators, supervisors, and clients</li></ul><h2>Safety &amp; Compliance</h2><ul><li>Follow all company safety policies and procedures</li><li>Complete required field documentation and reporting</li><li>Maintain strong situational awareness around underground infrastructure and active work zones</li><li>Promote a strong safety culture and proactive hazard identification</li></ul><h1>What You Bring</h1><h2>Required Experience</h2><ul><li>Minimum 2-3 years of HDD locating experience</li><li>Experience locating fibre optic or underground utility installations</li><li>Strong understanding of underground utility construction practices</li><li>Experience working in congested residential and urban environments preferred</li></ul><h2>Licenses &amp; Certifications</h2><ul><li>Valid Class 5 driver's license with clean abstract</li><li>Ground Disturbance Level II preferred</li><li>Standard First Aid considered an asset</li></ul><h2>Skills &amp; Qualifications</h2><ul><li>Strong communication skills are mandatory</li><li>Ability to work independently and as part of a crew</li><li>Strong attention to detail and accuracy</li><li>Ability to read locate sheets and construction drawings</li><li>Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions</li><li>Reliable transportation to reporting locations</li></ul><h1>What We Offer</h1><ul><li>Competitive compensation based on experience</li><li>Steady work with opportunities for overtime</li><li>Local and large-scale infrastructure projects</li><li>Strong team environment and supportive leadership</li><li>Career growth opportunities within a rapidly growing company</li><li>Well-maintained equipment and organized project execut</li><li>Benefits after 3 month probationary period</li></ul>

Are you comfortable locating in residential, urban, and high-congestion environments while working around existing underground utilities?
