Company Overview

BAAC Construction is actively hiring an experienced Deep Utility Supervisor to lead underground utility construction projects across civil and infrastructure operations. This role is responsible for overseeing crews, coordinating daily field execution, maintaining production schedules, and ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to specification. The ideal candidate has extensive experience working with deep underground utilities including water, storm, sanitary, and underground infrastructure installations in complex environments.

This is a leadership role best suited for someone who thrives in the field, understands heavy civil operations, and can confidently manage crews, subcontractors, equipment, and site logistics while maintaining strong communication with operations and project management teams.


Compensation and Benefits

Compensation: $38-46 CAD per hour

The Opportunity

This is an opportunity for an experienced field leader to take ownership of deep utility construction operations on active civil and infrastructure projects. You will lead crews, coordinate resources, and help ensure installations are completed safely, productively, and to municipal and engineering standards. For someone with strong underground utility experience and the ability to lead in complex site conditions, this role offers meaningful responsibility and long-term growth potential.


What You'll Do

  • Supervise daily deep utility construction operations on active job sites
  • Lead crews performing installation of water mains, storm systems, sanitary sewer systems, catch basins, manholes, and deep underground utility infrastructure
  • Read and interpret civil drawings, grade plans, utility locates, and specifications
  • Coordinate manpower, equipment, materials, and subcontractors
  • Ensure production targets and schedules are achieved
  • Conduct daily FLRAs, toolbox meetings, and safety inspections
  • Maintain compliance with company safety standards and project requirements
  • Work closely with project managers, superintendents, surveyors, and clients
  • Track daily progress, production quantities, delays, and field issues
  • Identify and resolve underground conflicts and site challenges
  • Ensure proper trenching, shoring, bedding, backfill, and compaction procedures are followed
  • Mentor and develop field staff and operators
  • Support quality control and ensure installations meet municipal and engineering standards

What Success Looks Like

Within the first 6 to 12 months, success in this role will look like:

  • Crews are organized, productive, and consistently meeting daily and weekly production targets.
  • Deep utility installations are completed safely, efficiently, and to project specifications.
  • Site issues, underground conflicts, and logistics challenges are identified early and resolved effectively.
  • Safety processes such as FLRAs, toolbox meetings, and field inspections are completed consistently and taken seriously by the crew.
  • Project managers and operations leaders view you as a dependable field leader who can deliver quality work in complex environments.

What We're Looking For


Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Minimum 2-5+ years of deep utility experience
  • Previous experience supervising civil utility crews
  • Strong knowledge of deep underground utility installation
  • Strong knowledge of water, storm, and sanitary systems
  • Strong knowledge of excavation and trench safety
  • Strong knowledge of civil construction practices
  • Experience working around existing underground infrastructure and congested utility corridors
  • Ability to read and understand civil drawings and grade stakes
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Experience coordinating multiple crews and equipment on active sites
  • Valid driver's license with reliable transportation

Preferred Qualifications

  • CSTS 2020
  • Ground Disturbance Level II
  • First Aid
  • Confined Space Awareness
  • Heavy equipment operating experience
  • Experience working on municipal or large-scale infrastructure projects
  • Class 1 or Class 3 license considered an asset
