We are growing and looking for experienced operators who want to take on challenging work and build a long-term career in heavy civil construction.</p><p><br></p><h3>The Opportunity</h3><p>We are hiring an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator  Deep Utilities to support large underground utility and civil projects based out of Calgary, with current work near Fox Creek and other locations across Alberta. You will be a key part of a pipe and grade crew installing deep utilities safely and efficiently in demanding, high-production environments.</p><p>This role is ideal for a professional operator who takes pride in precise work, understands excavation and trench safety, and wants to work on major infrastructure projects using modern equipment and technology.</p><p><br></p><h3>What You'll Do</h3><ul><li>Operate heavy equipment safely and productively on deep utility and civil construction projects, including remote and high-production sites.</li><li>Install deep underground utilities such as water mains, storm systems, sanitary sewer, underground telecom infrastructure, and utility crossings.</li><li>Run excavators, loaders, dozers, packers, skid steers, rock trucks, and related equipment to complete trenching, bedding, backfilling, and grading.</li><li>Read and interpret utility drawings, grade stakes, and construction plans to dig to correct line and grade the first time.</li><li>Work around existing underground utilities and congested infrastructure while maintaining strict excavation and trench safety procedures.</li><li>Complete daily equipment inspections, basic preventative maintenance, and report issues to keep machines in reliable working order.</li><li>Coordinate closely with supervisors, grade crews, pipe crews, and subcontractors to maintain production schedules and a safe, organized site.</li></ul><h3>What Success Looks Like</h3><ul><li>Within the first 36 months, you are consistently digging to line and grade with minimal rework while meeting or exceeding daily production targets.</li><li>You demonstrate safe operating habits, incident-free work, and strong understanding of trenching, shoring, and working around live utilities.</li><li>Crew leads and supervisors rely on you to plan digs, anticipate challenges, and keep utility installations moving smoothly.</li><li>You contribute to a positive crew culture by communicating clearly, helping solve problems on site, and taking ownership of your machine and work area.</li></ul><h3>What We're Looking For</h3><ul><li>Minimum 3 years of experience operating heavy equipment on deep utility or civil construction projects, including underground utility installation.</li><li>Strong knowledge of excavation safety, trenching practices, and working around live utilities in urban or congested environments.</li><li>Ability to read construction drawings, follow grade stakes, and understand elevations to achieve accurate excavations.</li><li>Valid Class 5 driver's licence; Class 1 or 3 is an asset, as is experience with large diameter pipe, shoring systems, GPS machine control, and high-production civil or telecom projects.</li><li>Comfort working outdoors in varying weather, travelling within Alberta as required, and collaborating with a field-based construction team.</li></ul><h3>Compensation and Benefits</h3><ul><li>Competitive compensation based on experience</li><li>Overtime opportunities</li><li>Company-supported training and development with long-term growth potential</li><li>Opportunity to work on major infrastructure and telecom-related civil projects using modern equipment</li></ul><h3>How to Apply</h3><p>If you are an experienced deep utilities operator looking for a long-term role with challenging projects and growth potential, please apply with your resume detailing your heavy equipment and underground utility experience.</p>
